FD2 Honda Civic Type-R review (2007-)

EP3 Honda civic Type-R reviews (2001 - 2006)

"The Honda Civic Type-R: an uncompromising hot hatch with great performance, right? But one that is hard-riding, noisy and not particularly inspiring until you rev it up to nearly 7,500rpm? Wrong.." - Channel 4.com full review

"Honda's Type R models have had a strong following in the UK, and the 2001-2006 Civic Type R was a huge success (it sold about 7000 a year when only 1500 a year were originally planned). The Type R version of the 2006 Civic doesn't appear to offer a great deal more than its predecessor, essentially carrying over the same engine and seemingly left behind in the horsepower race among rivals. But Honda says Type R isn't just about horsepower - it's more about the whole driving experience. For this version Honda took on board some customer comments regarding comfort and refinement while preserving the features that made the previous Type R desirable: screaming engine note, sharp handling and packaging that makes it easy to live with on a day-to-day basis. The Civic Type R costs £17,600 on the road, or £18,600 for the GT." - Parkers guide full review

"With all the opposition packing high power and high torque turbo engines, Honda’s naturally-aspirated Civic Type R aims to win you over with involvement and an 8,000rpm redline, rather than all out backroad pace. It’s an appealing package with loads of character – and keenly priced – but may not provide the instant adrenaline rush many are looking for." - Msn Cars full review

"It is a good and good-value product with charm, that will take a lot and return a greater proportion of your investment than any rival out there. The old Civic Type R was a tough act, but the new one has followed it. What a shame then, that I suspect it will never get the credit." - Times online full review
